The Steelers offense has been the most disappointing unit in football this season. At 4-6, they’re on pace to score just over 20 points per game and rank in the bottom half of the league in yards and touchdowns. After a Week 13 loss to Cincinnati, Mike Tomlin made an unpopular decision by benching struggling quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for rookie backup Joshua Dobbs.

The Mike Tomlin super bowls is a blog post about the Steelers’ decision to sign Le’Veon Bell to a four-year, $52.5 million contract despite his pending suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

This past offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers had to make a difficult choice.

Despite winning the AFC North with a 12-4 record, it became apparent that veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was nearing the end of his career. “Big Ben” was no longer able to play at a high level due to his age, persistent injuries, and a general decline in arm strength and ability.

There were rumors that the Steelers might select or trade for a new quarterback. The front management, on the other hand, decided to renegotiate Roethlisberger’s deal and keep him for another season. So far, it’s turned out to be a bad choice.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Ben Roethlisberger is the first quarterback in the past 20 years to lose yards on numerous 4th-down completions in the same season.

The Steelers have a 1-3 record and are in last place in the AFC North. The Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns have all started 3-1, and their starting quarterbacks are all above-average.

On the other side, the Steelers are reaping the benefits of their offseason bet. Many reasons contribute to their dismal start, but Roethlisberger’s deteriorating performance is at the top of the list.

Roethlisberger has a quarterback rating of 36.3 and is averaging just over 250 passing yards a game. He’s already thrown four interceptions. The veteran quarterback is having a difficult time moving the ball downfield and is almost motionless in the pocket.

To make things worse, it seems that no one in Pittsburgh is really considering changing the stance anytime soon.

The Steelers are capitalizing on their blunder.

Today isn’t a good day to be on the offensive line. It’s all on Ben Roethlisberger right now. That hurts me to say it, but it’s true. However, that is the truth.

When asked about Roethlisberger’s position as the Steelers’ starting quarterback, head coach Mike Tomlin said that he is “definitely” the best choice.

The statistics, on the other hand, indicate otherwise. Tomlin.

Roethlisberger’s lack of movement, according to Tomlin, is one of the reasons the Steelers’ offense is suffering right now. In terms of mechanical changes, however, he claimed that nothing could be altered.

“Everything except movement,” Tomlin replied. “I don’t have an explanation for it, or at least none that I’m aware of.” Ben used to be a fantastic runner when he was younger. Those days are no longer with him.”

“Aside from that, I don’t see anything that isn’t up for debate in terms of technical changes or play quality that can be enhanced.”

The Steelers’ backup quarterback situation isn’t ideal (Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins). However, Tomlin’s failure to even mention the potential of a change is worrisome.

Mike Tomlin will go down in NFL history as one of the best head coaches ever. This Roethlisberger disaster, on the other hand, is losing him a shot at immortality.

Last year, Tomlin matched for the NFL record for straight seasons without a losing record (14) and is expected to surpass it this year. With the Steelers off to a 1-3 start due to Roethlisberger’s poor performance, it’s difficult to see them completing the season with a record above.500.

To accomplish so, they’d have to win eight of their next 13 games. Given the current condition of the AFC North, it’ll be a difficult job.

At the end of the day, the Steelers can only blame themselves.
