A new movie poster for Ghostbusters was released today complete with a ghostly apparition of the film’s young protagonist, Abby Yates. The artwork has many fans wondering how it will fit into Bill Murray’s future endeavors in the franchise.

The “Ghost in the Shell” IMAX poster is a new piece of art that takes place after the events of the movie. It features Egon’s grand daughter and her friends as they go through their adventures. The poster will be released on October 27th, 2017.

We’ve arrived in November, which for many of us means one thing above all else: the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The film will be released in cinemas on Nov. 19 after many delays. We can provide an exclusive IMAX poster ahead of the launch, which you can see below.

There have also been a number of sneak peeks, teasers, and trailers released to promote Ghostbusters: Afterlife’s release. Fans are clearly eager for it to be released at this point. There had been some fear that the sequel’s theatrical release might hurt its box office performance, but as we’ve seen with other recent releases, movies do very well in theaters, even when they’re released on streaming platforms on the same day. The premiere is expected to draw “lines around the multiplex,” according to Dan Aykroyd.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman and based on a script co-written by Gil Kenan. The film is situated in the same world as Jason’s father, Ivan Reitman, who also acted as a producer on the first two Ghostbusters films. It stars Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, and Celeste O’Connor as members of a new Ghostbusters squad.

Of course, the original Ghostbusters cast members are returning as well, although in a limited capacity. Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts will all reprise their roles from the original films. Rick Moranis will not reprise his role as Louis Tully, while there is speculation that Paul Rudd’s character, like Tully in the originals, would play a crucial role in the new film.

“After being evicted from their home, a single mother and her two children are forced to move to a decayed farmhouse in Summerville, Oklahoma, left to them by the children’s late grandfather, where a series of unexplained earthquakes occur despite not being situated on any fault and strange things are happening in an old mine once belonged to the alleged occultist Ivo Shandor,” according to the Ghostbusters: Afterlife synopsis.

The kids learn of their grandfather’s involvement with the original Ghostbusters, who have since been completely forgotten outside of their fan following. When strange events connected to New York City’s 1984 Manhattan Crossrip occur and imperil the globe, the kids, together with their relatives and friends, must uncover the decades-old secret of their grandfather’s relocation and utilize the Ghostbusters’ technology to rescue it.”

Jason Reitman recently acknowledged Paul Feig and the 2016 Ghostbusters revival for paving the way for the production of Afterlife. While the film had its detractors, it did introduce a new Ghostbusters team, which was crucial to Reitman’s idea of his own new team being fulfilled rather than employing the same characters from the first in the lead roles.

Reitman noted that when Paul created his film, he “sort of smashed the doors wide.” “Suddenly, a Ghostbusters movie didn’t have to be about the four original Manhattan Ghostbusters. That was a significant event… I’d want to watch all of the Ghostbusters films. I’d want to watch Ghostbusters films from all of my favorite directors, representing a wide range of cultures and places. Paul put up a lot of effort so that I could create this film.”

Sony Pictures has announced that Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be released in cinemas on November 19, 2021.
