Best Solo Classes in Final Fantasy XIV
Duties and trials — the FFXIV versions of dungeons and boss fights – are required for certain missions. Until Shadowbringers, you’ll have to queue with other players in the Duty Finder for them. Even after you reach Shadowbringers, you may discover that the NPC Trust mechanism for completing tasks with friendly NPCs is lacking. In short, expect to sometimes form groups with other players.
However, there are hundreds of hours of material simply waiting for you — and you alone.
Let’s suppose you wish to fly by yourself. Which course should you enroll in? You’ll be on your own if you go in over your head; there will be no support. That implies you’ll need to be able to survive. Damage from a burst pipe. Perhaps some self-healing? And who doesn’t benefit from a little more health?
Fortunately, there are a variety of courses available that will meet your needs. We’re going to concentrate on seven classes for our FFXIV Best Solo Classes list: Archer/Bard, Marauder/Warrior, Red Mage, Gladiator/Paladin, Rogue/Ninja, Gunbreaker, and Samurai.

The Archer/Bard is a long-ranged damage dealer with excellent resilience. With Straight Shot and Heavy Shot, you keep enemies at arm’s length, unleashing arrow after arrow like a cat-eared Legolas. You also have crowd control with skills like Rain of Death and Quick Nock, which melt several enemies at once when they come near. Self-healing and damage mitigation are also included in the toolbox, thanks to Second Wind and Troubadour.
Your true strength, though, comes in your Bardic tunes.
Your DoT attacks Venomous Bite/Caustic Bite and Windbite/Stormbite may sometimes score critical hits, just like any other strike. With Iron Jaws’ timed reset, you can keep them going. Those crits will trigger for additional buffs or unique ability charges as long as you have a song like Army’s Paeon, Mage’s Ballad, or The Wanderer’s Minuet playing. Your songs boost you and any other friends nearby, as well as doing some damage to the enemy. Your heavenly voice has the same ability to stop hearts as your arrowheads.
Finish out your foes with the DoT-fueled Shadowbite or Burst Shot, and then inform everyone you’re renaming yourself “Burst Damage.”
2. Warrior/Marauder

Perhaps you’d rather get up up and personal with the subject. The Marauder/Warrior wields a deadly axe and carves a path to triumph out of steel and bone. Tanks are no strangers to taking punishment, but due to key rotation abilities like Heavy Swing, Maim, and Storm’s Path, you may return the favor in stunningly brutal manner.
Even target-rich settings, like the Bard’s, will not be enough to overwhelm you. For optimum efficacy, Overpower and its combination Mythril Tempest will hit several opponents at once. You’re a Tank, after all, so role abilities for damage absorption like Rampart and Reprisal may keep you afloat. You may even heal yourself using powers like Storm’s Path, Thrill of Battle, and Equilibrium, but some of these are only available after completing Job tasks. Maintain your class missions.
The Beast Gauge is a resource mechanism that charges with early-game skills to boost late-game powers. And, yes, they have a higher proclivity for causing harm. Whether fighting single or many targets, the Marauder/Warrior will win.
Red Mage is the third character.

The Red Mage is an unusual character class. Let’s get it out of the way right from the bat. You’re a first-and-foremost damage-dealer – at least, that’s what it says on the box. In practice, though, you’ll be healing, reviving, and flexing to meet whatever demand arises.
And it’s for this reason that Red Mage is ideal for solitary play.
Riposte, Jolt, and Verthunder are all damage-dealing abilities. You also have Black and White Mana, which is a resource provided by specific abilities and acts as your class’s resource to manage. However, after you’ve completed the Stormblood content, you should be able to use Vercure and Verraise to heal and resurrect, respectively.
Doesn’t it sound like Healer abilities? Because they most certainly are.
Vercure will keep you and others alive, while Verraise will bring the real Healers back into the battle after they’ve been knocked out. And, if you want to get the most out of late-game abilities like Verflare and Verholy, careful management of your Black and White Mana is crucial. Just remember to cure yourself first, then others.
4. Gladiator/Paladin (Gladiator/Paladin)

Are you prepared to take a beating? The Gladiator/Paladin is the archetypal Tank, having a lower total damage output but many methods to remain vertical during the battle.
Of course, you can fight back – the Fast Blade into Riot Blade combination pulls blood, and a withering assault of Rage of Halone or Goring Blade for the DoT completes the picture. But it’s when the Gladiator/Paladin takes a blow, spits out a few teeth, and then grinnes back at Death that the Gladiator/Paladin truly shines. After completing the level 58 Job quest in Clemency, you get a powerful self-heal, tremendous damage mitigation in Sentinel and Hallowed Ground, and the Tank-specific Rampart and Reprisal.
Toggle your Iron Will on during Duties, Trials, and Raids to keep aggro on you. Other tanks may be able to outdamage you, but few can handle damage as well as you.
5. Rogue/Ninja – Best Solo Classes in Final Fantasy XIV

Rogue/Ninja is perhaps the most technically difficult class on this list. To properly explore the ins and outs of such a work would be beyond the scope of such an article. Let’s take a quick look at the summary anyhow.
The Ninki Gauge and mudras are crucial to the Ninja’s late-game powers. To properly practice Ninjitsu, you must develop the skills of an artist, such as an elegant ballet dancer or pianist. Except your swords are your instruments, and your art is death.
Your mudras and talents will evolve and combine in beautiful chains with other powers. Ten Chi, or Jin, may be used as a foundation for Fuma Shruiken, Ten to Jin for Hyoton, and a variety of other combinations that you’ll have to master via practice. Ninki may also be used on powerful attacks such as Hellfrog Medium and Bhavacakra.
Few, if any, will be able to equal your fierce and gorgeous displays of martial skill if you devote the time to mastering the discipline.
Gunbreaker, no. 6

On the battlefield, the Gunbreaker is a force to be reckoned with, whether shooting or slashing.
While being a Tank implies they should be able to take a lot of punishment, you may discover that the Gunbreaker is one of the most squishy Tanks in the game. They make up for their lack of defense with offense. Combo skills such as Keen Edge, Brutal Shell, and Solid Barrel smash your opponent with damage while simultaneously healing you and reducing incoming damage. That’s what I call efficiency.
Cartridges may be stored in your Powder Gauge to unleash deadly late-game combinations based on Gnashing Fang, as well as one-off strikes like Fated Circle and Burst Strike. All of the Tank role abilities, such as Rampart and Reprisal, are now available to give you that additional edge in survival.
You may be battling nasty with skills like Abdomen Tear, Jugular Rip, and Eye Gouge, but at least you’ll be the one walking away, right?
Samurai, no. 7

Honor, nobility, and justice are all values that a Samurai may have. However, as a single player in Final Fantasy XIV, your primary priority is completing tasks and surviving to fight another day. Fortunately, the Samurai’s complex and versatile toolbox is well-suited to the job.
The Samurai, like the Ninja, has a one-of-a-kind resource management mechanism (or two): the Sen and Kenki Gauges. Combo actions based on the quick-hit Hakaze may net you one Sen in addition to additional benefits, such as Shifu into Kasha decreasing cast times or Jinpu into Gekko boosting damage done. And all of these combinations will give your Kenki Gauge a significant boost.
Certain late-game skills may be utilized with your Kenki, while others involve even more levels of resource management, such as the Iaijutsu ability, which provide stacks of Meditation that fuel subsequent abilities. The Samurai is essentially a gigantic fighting Rube Goldberg contraption. And, like its partner in complex crime, Ninja, if you have the patience for it, it can be a highly rewarding class for the single player.
